The Financial Portfolio stack lets you keep track of your accounts & investments and allows you to calculate your net worth, capital gains, etc. This is a major revision to the last version uploaded to America OnLine (version 2.8). If you own previous versions of the stack (2.1 and above), you can import the information.
New features include:
- a redesigned interface with new pop-up menus for navigation
- customizable categories and assignment of details to those categories
- integrated Help in a windoid—no separate Help stack needed
- a customizable floating palette for commonly-used functions
- unlimited number of user-defined reports in addition to several built-in reports
- numerous obvious and behind-the-scenes functional enhancements
Please take advantage of the Help screens available in most areas of the stack. These will explain the use and features of the stack.
Requirements:
1) HyperCard 2.1 (I haven’t tested the stack with the HyperCard Player)
- please assign at least 1600K to the application with the “Get Info” dialog
(2000K or more may be even better)
2) Put the “•Portfolio resources•” stack in the same folder as the main Financial Portfolio stack; if you don’t, you will be asked with a dialog box to search for it if it is required (see below.)
3) This stack makes extensive use of WindowScript (version 1.3 used), a HyperCard add-on from Heizer Software that allows the creation of custom windows and dialog boxes. If you own WindowScript and have it installed in the hierarchy, the stack will ignore the WindowScript resources in the “•Portfolio resources•” stack and use those in your own WindowScript stack. If you’ve never heard of WindowScript before, you obviously don’t have it installed; in this event, the stack will automatically place the “•Portfolio resources•” stack in the hierarchy upon opening and remove it upon closing.
This program is “kidware”: if you use it, please send me a dollar (or more) to the address below and I will forward it to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (the late Danny Thomas’ pet project). If you would like to send a check directly to St. Jude’s, mail it to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1818, Memphis, TN 38101-9903; if you do so, please drop me a line to let me know.
